The Petition To Release "Twice Upon A Time" on DVD + Our Q&A with John Korty!
At the end of April, Cinefamily and Animation Breakdown proudly presented three uber-super-duper rare 35mm screenings of 1983’s long lost, animated would-be cult classic Twice Upon A Time. One of the most visually unique animated features we’ve ever seen, it’s one we’d been attempting to screen for years — so we were incredibly excited when, with the help of our friend Phil Lord (director of Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs and 21 Jump Street), we not only finally scored a 35mm print but were joined by co-writer and director John Korty for its opening night. Korty brought with him a wealth of fascinating info on the process of creating the film, as well as a written statement (previously posted here) meant to set the record straight on 30 years of confusion about its dual versions (one PG, one PG-13) and the storied past that ensured its fate as “the coolest animated film you’ve probably never seen.”
In both his statement and the Q&A, Korty urged the packed house of longtime fans and brand-new converts to send Warner Brothers the message that they’d like to see Twice Upon A Time finally get the DVD release it deserves. And that’s just what we’ve done!

Some of it’s a reasonably accurate analogy, some of it isn’t, and it might be hard to tell which is which. If it inspires one of you to take a bio class or do other research, then YAY. :)
